New Spring Menu: Tupelo Honey Cafe

Happy Spring to you my dear friends! I am super excited to be back with another blog post featuring one of my favorite Raleigh restaurants, Tupelo Honey Cafe. Tupelo used to be a restaurant I would visit ALL of the time when I lived around the corner during college. From dinners before formals or Sunday brunch with friends, this was our spot! As I moved a little further away post-grad, I explored other areas more and I’m sad to say I went quite a while without dining at Tupelo. This month, I was invited to visit and try out their new Spring Menu items and everything was SO GOOD. I am excited to bring Tupelo back into my rotation now that I’ve been hooked on some of their new dishes.

One thing I really missed about Tupelo is their biscuits. They have always been in my top 5 best in Raleigh. The blueberry compote on the side is just perfection. Pictured on the right is the “Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe” white wine sangria and it was delicious! Pro tip- this drink is on special during their M-F 3pm-6pm Happy Hour.

For starters here are the three delicious items I tried:

  • Spicy Cauliflower Bites- beer-battered and lightly fried cauliflower florets & sliced jalapeños, green onions, sriracha honey drizzle, green tomato aioli dipping sauce

  • Famous Fried Green Tomatoes- panko-crusted fried green tomatoes, basil, roasted red pepper sauce, over heirloom grits with goat cheese

  • Delicious potatoes that I am struggling to find on the menu so you don’t get a well-written description lol. Trust me they are amazing

All 3 of those appetizers were absolutely delicious. I am already ready to go back for the spicy cauliflower bites! For my entree, I went with the classic Shrimp & Grits and it did not disappoint. This dish was a beautiful combination of sustainable wild-caught gulf shrimp, peperonata, heirloom grits with goat cheese, green onions, creole butter sauce. My friend went with the Sriracha Honey Fried Chicken & Waffles and spoke very highly of it as well.
