Don't Stop the Party

Happy *almost* new year!! Whew, the holiday rush is OVER. Though my favorite time of year, you all know how exhausting it can be. This is the first time in four weeks I’ve had time to even consider sitting down to write a post. I’ve been back and forth to my family, baking things to take to holiday parties, trying to fit in a Christmas movie or two, buying gifts, and then scheduling times to give said gifts. It’s been a joyful whirlwind, but I'm very excited to get back to my normal routine and to work on some fresh goals for the bright and shiny new decade upon us (which I’ll be sharing in another post soon).

The funny thing is, there was so much hustle and bustle the past four short weeks, but my January calendar is completely empty. Not one small gathering to look forward too! Though this gives me plenty of hours to work on “me time”, I know I will be bored of that in 3 days and will want something extra to do. Who’s with me!? A friend of mine shared an interesting article with me recently, written by Madeleine Aggele at The Cut. “Just Save Some Parties for January” suggests saving some holiday gatherings for the first few cold, gloomy months of the new year is a great idea because 1) By the time people get to your some day in December party, they have probably been to 5 others already and are a tinge regretful they marked “going” on your Facebook invite, 2) In January, your desired guests probably aren’t going to be booked already, and 3) We all miss Christmas cookies and want just a few more so we don’t really have to wait a whole ‘nother year. Essentially, “January parties are a welcome break, a happy way to embark on a new year.”

If you need more convincing to host a January party, it gives you the perfect excuse to order the delicious food from Horizon Catering! For those of you living in the Triangle, you probably recognize the name “Inter-faith Food Shuttle.” What you might not know is the Interfaith + Horizon Catering story. The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Farm provides locally grown, chemical-free produce for those in need. Horizon Catering sources from the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle Farm directly as a partner, giving Horizon the freshest produce available and the Farm another channel for its product. The partnership is a mutually beneficial one. The benefit to the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle through revenue generation opportunities helps to support the organization as a whole. $1 spent with Horizon Catering or one product purchased from the Farm means a deeper impact to help those in need. The intangible benefit for the Farm is the opportunity it offers for volunteers to directly support the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle's work toward the goal of ending hunger in NC through hands-on efforts. Often times, a crop harvested in the field by a volunteer's hands can be in a recipient's home within 2-3 days.

I love this organization and think that if you’re going to spend money on catering, you might as well do it with a place that gives back! They have delicious catering options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Brunch party in January? I think yes. Check out the menus here.

I’ve been hearing alllll about the Quiche Lorraine recipe from Chef Jim Hinger, the Director of Culinary and Catering at Horizon Catering and he was gracious enough to allow me to share with you all! Quiche Lorraine is one of my favorite breakfast foods and I get so excited when someone has them catered for a brunch or breakfast gathering. The quiche platter from Horizon would be perfect for any holiday party or even for a bridal party on wedding day!

Hold to save the recipe to your camera roll or share with a friend!

Well there you have it. January parties are the new December parties and brunch parties are the new dinner parties. Get with the times. Oh, and invite me to your parties. Thanks in advance.

I hope you all enjoy the last few days of the decade and ring in the new year doing something special! I can’t wait for a whole new year of sharing more coffee, pretty little things, and simple pleasures.
